I haven’t always been a millionaire. I recently had the opportunity to sit down for a 15-minute interview with Mr. Lane Martinsen, a well-known financial advisor, to share my journey from financial stress to financial clarity.

For years, my wife and I lived paycheck to paycheck. We carried significant debt, had no savings, and no financial plan. Like many, we were doing our best, but we lacked one critical piece: clarity.

Everything began to change in my mid-30s when I started investing in a 401(k) plan. Small, consistent decisions, paired with time and discipline, put us on a wealth-building path. Over the years, we stayed committed, avoided panic during market swings, and steadily reduced debt.

But the real turning point came much later.

In 2021, my wife asked a simple question: “Can I retire?”
I didn’t know the answer. So I built a comprehensive financial plan. When we finally saw the full picture, everything changed. We had more than enough. What we had been missing all along wasn’t effort. It was visibility into our future.

That experience reshaped how I think about money and ultimately led to the creation of Vision and Hope™ Financial’s planning software.
